upavista konasana hipos & hamstrings yoga course

I will be starting a new Progress your Practice on Monday May 13th.  This will  have the focus of "Hamstrings & hips”.

This course will focus on strengthening and stretching your hamstrings and hips. Often in yoga, we focus purely on stretching our tighter areas, but our body responds best when we build strength along with our flexibility.

During this course, we will focus on lotus, splits, and all their different variations. Props will be used, and poses will be modified to make them work best for you.

baddha konasana restorative yoga

This will be a slow-paced workshop that will entail holding poses for a long while. We will be doing a lot of hip opening, hamstring lengthening and twisting. We will begin and finish with breathwork and a long guided yoga Nidra session.  Pillows, blankets and cosy socks are recommended!  I haven't taught one of these in years, but I always loved doing them. Holding the poses for a while and combining it with breathwork and guided relaxation means that your nervous system will get a chance to move into a restful state, and you will leave feeling nourished and at peace.

On June 9th, I will be holding a day retreat with my best pal Dearbhla Glynn in Ballymaloe Grainstore. Yahoo!
This is the third of these day retreats that we have held together and they are so special. This retreat is around the theme of Balance: Root to Rise: getting grounded to enable you to find balance. The focus will be on balancing poses, standing and arm balancing.  There will be a vinyasa practice in the morning and both Dearbh and I will be teaching this.  Dearbh will be teaching her speciality, handstands, and I will be teaching mine, pincha mayurasaana.  You don't need to be able to do either of these pose will be adapting for all levels and using the wall as needed. We will also be looking at other balancing poses during practice.  After that, there will be a walk on the grounds of Ballymaloe and a light summer lunch, then an afternoon session beginning with breathwork, chanting and moving into a restorative yoga session.

eka pada raja kapotaasaana yoga backbend workshop

This workshop is aimed to help you better understand how your spine works and how to increase mobility so that you can find more freedom in your backbends. Backbends can be energising and help open the front of the body whilst strengthening the back body. But due to restrictions in different parts they often feel tight, compressed, tiring, or even impossible.

During this workshop we will begin with pranayama and some mobility work and passive poses to open up tighter parts of the spine, shoulders  and hip flexors. We then move into a vinyasa practice to warm up, and after that we will explore the possibility of deepening our backbends. We will break down the different elements in the poses, using props and modifications as needed.

Open to most levels of practitioners, all apart from beginnners.

There will be time for tea and some treats afterwards for those that want to stay  and catch up.
